چکیده

Background Myocardial BOLD MRI is a non-contrast approach for examining myocardial perfusion. Although recent developments have shown promising technical advancements, current myocardial BOLD MR methods are still limited by: (a) poor spatial coverage; (b) imaging confounders; and (c) imaging artifacts, particularly at 3T. To address these limitations, we developed a heart-rate independent, free-breathing 3D T2 mapping technique at 3T that utilizes near 100% imaging efficiency, which can be completed within 3 minutes. We tested our method in a canine model and validated our findings with simultaneously acquired N-ammonia PET perfusion data in a whole-body PET/MR system.

Whole-heart, free-breathing, three-dimensional myocardial BOLD MRI at 3T with simultaneous 13N-ammonia PET in canines

Background Myocardial BOLD MRI is an emerging non-contrast approach for the assessment of ischemic heart disease. However, current BOLD CMR methods (T2-weighted, T2*-weighted or bSSFP) are limited by poor spatial coverage and image artifacts (e.g. coil bias, B1 and B0 inhomogeneities). To address these limitations, we developed a fast, free breathing 3D T2 mapping technique at 3T that utilizes ...

Fast, whole-heart, free-breathing 3D T2 mapping at 3T with application to myocardial edema imaging

Background Cardiac MRI (CMR) T2 mapping is a proven method for myocardial edema detection. However, the current approach requires multiple breath-holds and can take nearly 10-15 minutes to complete. Faster acquisitions could potentially improve patient comfort and costeffectiveness of CMR exams. the objecttive of this study is to develop and test a free-breathing, three-dimensional, cardiac MR ...

Towards reliable myocardial blood-oxygen-level-dependent (BOLD) CMR using late effects of regadenoson with simultaneous 13n-ammonia pet validation in a whole-body hybrid PET/MR system

Background BOLD CMR is a non-contrast approach for examining myocardial perfusion but despite major technical advancements to date, its reliability remains weak. A key reason for this is the unpredictable cardiac motion during stress, which can lead to pronounced artifacts that confound/ mask the true BOLD signal changes during hyperemia. Recently, regadenoson has become the vasodilator of choi...

Gated cardiac 13N-NH3 PET for assessment of left ventricular volumes, mass, and ejection fraction: comparison with electrocardiography-gated 18F-FDG PET.

UNLABELLED The purpose of this study was to evaluate myocardial electrocardiography (ECG)-gated 13N-ammonia (13N-NH3) PET for the assessment of cardiac end-diastolic volume (EDV), cardiac end-systolic volume (ESV), left ventricular (LV) myocardial mass (LVMM), and LV ejection fraction (LVEF) with gated 18F-FDG PET as a reference method. METHODS ECG-gated 13N-NH3 and 18F-FDG scans were perform...

13N ammonia myocardial imaging at rest and with exercise in normal volunteers. Quantification of absolute myocardial perfusion with dynamic positron emission tomography.

Positron emission tomography (PET) was applied to the measurement of myocardial perfusion using the perfusion tracer 13N-labeled ammonia. 13N ammonia was delivered intravenously to 13 healthy volunteers both at rest and during supine bicycle exercise. Dynamic PET imaging was obtained in three cross-sectional planes for 10 minutes commencing with each injection. The left ventricle was divided in...
